This week’s rehearsal went well – we were small but mighty! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was remiss to highlight our flute section and the excellent work on display from that corner! Well done! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will be a busy week for us: we have both a dress rehearsal on Thursday AND a performance on Saturday. Details for both events are combined here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Housekeeping Matters – Performances: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Our dress rehearsal will proceed with us running the program in the first half (that’s listed below), then after the break, doing some minor spot-checking. I would also like to work on 59 – Super Mario Brothers <\/strong>– time permitting, so please keep that on your radar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And now for the concert details: <\/p>\n\n\n\n This residence is just off Main St. There is an Impark lot across the street (Aberdeen) where, I’ve been informed, the metre doesn’t always accept payment by card. It was suggested to take 3 loonies to cover parking, or to make arrangements to pay cash at the front desk of Holy Family Home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n There is a rather long trek from the front entrance to the atrium (where we play). When inside, the doors, take a right and go all the way past the kitchens to the cafeteria. <\/p>\n\n\n\n As per usual, we will ensure that someone (most likely me) is at the front doors and able to watch gear until 1:20 pm<\/strong>. You are welcome to pull up to the front door, unload your vehicles, then park. (We also typically have members help shuffle equipment, so you may find that some of your gear has been moved for you after parking your car). <\/p>\n\n\n\n Please try your best to arrive for 1:00 pm. This gives us time to do the band shuffle (what happens as people trickle in and we have to more and readjust our seating to accommodate).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Collective warm up will start at 1:25 pm.<\/strong> (This means you have already done your personal warm up and tuning. The collective warm up allows us to start playing together and make any adjustments we need).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The baton drops at 1:30 pm sharp.<\/strong> If you’re inviting friends\/family who are not coming in the car with you, this is the time to tell them we start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our uniform is flexible – be modest (we are not sexy), make sure any logos or text is appropriate to represent the band, and be as comfortable as the weather (and modesty) allow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Top: Forest green (we have Millennium Band polo shirts available for $25) or Black preferred (if forest green is not available)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bottom: Black preferred<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our remaining performances are indoors, so we won’t have to worry about some of the extras!<\/p>\n\n\n\n We’re pretty casual about attendance – it is a summer band, and summer’s gonna summer. Having said that, if we are missing critical parts, I’ll have to do some analysis to ensure coverage of critical parts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Please take a moment to check out: Administrative Operations<\/a> if you haven’t already done so.
